What’s something you’re proud of achieving?
I think moving to NYC was such a big step that, at that time, I didn’t really grasp how hard it would be, however it worked and now I am a professional actor who made her professional debut on an off-off Broadway stage as a lead! I think that’s crazy and not something I really could have imagined when I first moved out here at the age of 19.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned over your career?
Patience. It’s definitely so hard to relinquish so much control and be patient with the fact that your success and career is predominantly in the hands of others and their opinions. You have to just be patient with the fact that sometimes a month can be slow where it’s just rejection after rejection but that it’s only temporary and there will be work just around the corner. What I can control is how prepared I am, how I present myself, how I can create more opportunities and how I keep myself busy.
Who do you talk to when you feel stuck?
Definitely my parents and siblings are my first call, they are so supportive and understanding that sometimes I just need to talk it out loud to process and work out what I want to do next. Living with other actors is also so so useful because it means that I can get advice from people who are living this with me and they understand what this career entails.
Where did you grow up?
When I was much younger I grew up in the south west of London however when I got to middle school age me and my parents moved up to the midlands of the UK to a city called Lincoln. It was definitely a big change moving from somewhere like outer-west London to a more northern city that is much much smaller, but when I go home to see my family it’s a nice break from NYC to be somewhere more quieter.
How has your life been different than what you’d imagined?
I think when you’re younger you view success as an actor as being ‘famous’, but now I view it as something very different. So I would maybe say that, yes, it is a little different but I wouldn’t change anything about that at all. I would also say that when you’re younger you view life as a little more one dimensional and that’s not what it is at all. But I am a professional actor, performing and working regularly so I would say that in those terms is exactly how I imagined my life.
Do you believe in soulmates?
Definitely! However I don’t believe soulmates are purely just romantic nor do I think you only have one soulmate in your life. So many people in your life will be there to teach you so much about yourself and make an impact in your life, sometimes there are a special few that make such a huge impact and those I would class as soulmates.
What is your personal favorite social media platform?
I have become a little bit addicted to Tik Tok recently and that isn’t the best however I love to watch food and animal video’s.
