Barbara has revolutionized the practice through her honest teaching style and creative sequencing, concentrating on helping others thrive in life by supporting the mind, body, and spirit.

We’ll look at Barbara’s path as a yoga instructor and how she manages her modeling job while also practicing yoga. We’ll talk to her about her approach to teaching yoga, her experience managing numerous occupations, and her future ambitions.

About Barbara

Barbara Silva is from South Florida and is noted for her unique approach to yoga. She has inspired many people who are looking for a method to handle stress, live a healthy lifestyle, and find balance in their everyday lives. Barbara discusses her transition from a sales position to becoming a yoga instructor, her experience balancing various professions, her approach to teaching yoga, and her future ambitions in this interview.

Q: Hello, Barbara! How’s it going? Let’s start with how you came across yoga and how it transformed your life.

Barbara: Hi! Of course, yes. While working in sales in South Florida, I discovered yoga. The corporate environment gradually left me feeling burned out and uninterested at work. To relieve the tension and exhaustion, I began taking classes at a nearby studio. I started by taking a class once a week and gradually increased my practice to every day, even sneaking out of work early to join a class with my favorite practitioner. That’s when I realized yoga had taken over as the most important element of my life.

Q: That’s incredible. How did you make the move from yoga practitioner to yoga instructor?

Barbara: After a while of doing yoga, I wanted to expand my understanding of it and share it with others. To develop my practice, I enrolled in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Space Unknown with my teachers, Naya Rappoport and Salila Thuy. It was a challenging and gratifying experience that helped me grow as a teacher and practitioner.

Q: That’s quite impressive. Could you tell us about the difficulties you had when establishing your career as a yoga instructor?

Barbara: It has not been a pleasant journey. Juggling a full-time work, growing a following as a model/influencer, completing my 200-hour YTT, and attending many classes to enhance my practice was EXTREMELY difficult. In between, I barely had time to breathe. I had to make so many sacrifices for myself in order to focus on three professions at once! To do so, I had to learn how to be an expert at time management. And discover ways to take care of myself and my mental health as well.

Q: That sounds difficult. How did you overcome such obstacles?

Barbara: Well, I learnt to be more disciplined and goal-oriented. I needed to prioritize my time and energy and let go of things that were no longer serving my best interests. I also learned the value of self-care and taking breaks when necessary. During those trying times, yoga helped me keep grounded and balanced.

Q: Right, your teaching style has been described as honest and nonjudgmental. Could you tell us more about your approach to yoga instruction?

Barbara: My approach to teaching yoga is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment in which everyone feels welcomed and appreciated. I am known for my real, non-judgmental teaching style and creative sequencing to balance strength and flexibility, as well as for helping others succeed in life by nurturing the mind, body, and spirit. Yoga, in my opinion, is about more than simply physical exercise; it is also about mindfulness, self-awareness, and personal growth. My classes are aimed to help people reconnect with themselves, their breath, and their bodies, leaving them feeling revitalized and empowered.

Q: You’re also known for using social media to promote healthy living and lifestyle. Could you tell us more about your work in the world of influence?

Barbara: Oh, yes, I do use it to advocate healthy living and lifestyle on my social media channels. I believe that social media has the potential to be a great instrument for inspiring and motivating people to live their best lives. I offer my personal yoga, mindfulness, healthy eating, and self-care experiences, insights, and suggestions. Do follow guys!

Also, I work with brands and other influencers who share my beliefs and vision. I am most proud of being able to stand up and represent my way of life and thought through many outlets. Always living in my truth through various channels. That, I believe, distinguishes me from others.

Q: That’s fantastic news. What are some of the most common misunderstandings about yoga, and how do you address them in your teaching?

Barbara: One of the most common misconceptions about yoga is that it is exclusively for persons who are flexible and fit. Yoga is suitable for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. Another common misunderstanding is that yoga is merely a physical activity and not a spiritual pursuit. Yoga is a holistic practice that involves physical postures, breathwork, meditation, and other mental and emotional well-being techniques. I attempt to make yoga accessible and inclusive for everyone in my teaching, and I highlight the spiritual and philosophical components of yoga.

Q: How do you keep up with the latest advances and trends in the yoga field, and where do you go for continuing education?

Barbara: In my profession and teaching, I am continuously learning and improving. To keep up with the latest advancements and trends in the yoga field, I attend seminars, conferences, and online courses. In order to exchange ideas and insights, I also read books, listen to podcasts, and network with other teachers and practitioners. I feel that ongoing education is critical for both personal and professional development.

Q: What are your long-term objectives and aspirations for your yoga teaching profession, and how do you intend to grow and evolve in your practice?

Barbara: My goals for the future are to continue to grow as an individual and in my work, while also making a difference in the community. By doing what they enjoy, I may assist others in living their truth. I intend to broaden my understanding of yoga and other holistic practices, as well as to learn new skills and approaches to improve my teaching.

Q: Thank you for sharing your remarkable experience and insights with us, Barbara. Do you have any closing words of advise for folks who want to start their own yoga practice or work as a yoga instructor?

Barbara: My advice to anyone starting their own yoga practice or pursuing a career as a yoga instructor is to stay true to themselves and their principles. Yoga is a transforming and intimate practice that can assist you in discovering your true self and living in accordance with your purpose. Don’t be afraid to experiment, explore, and take risks, and keep in mind that yoga is a journey, not a destination!
