From Wall Street to Worldwide Impact: How Dr. Beverlin Hammett Built a Consulting Firm Rooted in Integrity

Dr. Hammett, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

First, I must share that I started my first job at 14 and launched my first business at 16—an entertainment service that helped high school student singers and dancers get booked and paid for when they performed at high school and college events. After a couple of other kids, because we were indeed kids found out about how I wasn’t scared to ‘demand’ that the performers get paid, word just got around. So, from an early age, I learned how to identify needs, create solutions, and empower people who had talent but lacked structure, strategy, confidence, or support. I naturally gravitated toward helping people improve, grow, and operate with excellence, whether they were selling a product or offering a service. That entrepreneurial foundation, combined with years of helping people start small businesses to having a leadership role in multiple companies across industries, made launching BH & Associates Global a natural next step.

“Soar Higher”—our signature philosophy—reflects the heart of our work: elevating people beyond where they are at, personally, professionally, and doing so strategically. It’s about giving clients the clarity, tools, and confidence to rise above limitations and reach their highest potential. Through my global work, I discovered that every culture understands the idea of going higher, which is why our slogan is “Motivating and Empowering Individuals and Organizations to Soar Higher.”

As my career grew, people continued seeking my help—friends, colleagues, former students, and even professionals who chose me over other consultants because they trusted my judgment and results. That ongoing flow of requests for insight and strategy made it clear that turning my passion into a global consultancy firm was not only logical—it was a calling.

When working with clients, I draw on decades of experience across diverse sectors. My background includes compliance and regulatory roles on Wall Street overseeing investments in secondary market assets for global investment firms, serving as a Compliance Officer in healthcare, managing real estate investments, and advising domestic and international businesses through various stages of growth. I also bring a decade of academic experience, having taught undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students in areas such as IT, international business, ethics, regional trade agreements, and international relations. Coupled with my MBA in International Business and PhD in Organizational Behavior with a specialization in Information Systems Management, this combination of real-world leadership, academic rigor, and global exposure allows me to provide clients with practical solutions, ethical guidance, and strategic clarity on both a local and international scale.

I also know that spending a decade in South Korea as a professor and missionary expanded my vision even further. Teaching at an international business school allowed me to teach and counsel students from more than 80 nations, and my work took me to 48 countries—each filled with talented, capable individuals who simply needed direction and a trusted voice who would tell them the truth. These global experiences revealed that the need for integrity-centered mentorship and culturally relevant business strategy exists everywhere. I often found myself solving problems others overlooked—bridging leadership gaps, offering clear roadmaps, and helping people turn vision into action through a global, faith-informed perspective.

Ultimately, BH & Associates Global became the perfect platform to unite my business expertise, global experience, and heart for serving people. Our approach blends strategy, integrity, and cultural understanding to help leaders, entrepreneurs, and students around the world truly Soar Higher.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

How did you get into your industry and build your expertise?

In a nutshell, I entered through demand. I didn’t enter consulting through theory. Like I previously shared, people consistently came to me for help, often referred by friends, former colleagues, former students, and even professionals who had previously hired other consultants but needed someone they could actually trust. Over time, the requests grew—from business strategy to organizational structure, leadership coaching, compliance, operations, and international business development. After decades of advising informally, I formalized the work as BH & Associates Global because it became clear that the need was global, the impact was real, I saw and still see lives changed. And I might add that the calling was…is undeniable.

When I really think about it, a major reason why clients and even potential clients, seek out our services is not only because they’ve heard, “Dr. Hammett will tell you the truth whether you like it or not”,—they not only trust me, but also appreciate that my background is not only in one general business area—it’s also in various areas of technology (artificial intelligence, systems analysis, and design, digital transformation). However our focus is primary on helping businesses modernize, secure, and leverage technology for efficiency. So, I do spend most of our time with clients who need tech related consulting for implementing new systems, modernizing applications, improving operations, and ensuring compliance in this ever evolving AI landscape.

I understand how to ensure that any technology a company develops or purchases aligns with strict regulatory guidelines. My work has required deep knowledge of HIPAA and the HITECH Act, GLBA, SOX, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, GDPR, and of course keeping abreast of emerging requirements tied to technologies involving artificial intelligence. This technical and regulatory foundation allows me to advise clients with a level of precision that protects their organizations, their data, their customers, and ultimately their reputation.

My years abroad also shaped my expertise. Living in Asia and different European nations for a decade as a professor and Christian Humanitarian Missionary, and as previously shared, while also teaching and advising students from more than 80 nations and traveling around the world, all of this helped me understand the global mindset, have cultural intelligence, and the universal need for ethical, strategic, faith-informed leadership. I don’t just “consult”—I help people navigate complex challenges with clarity, compassion, and integrity.

What sets you apart from others in your field?

Several things make my work distinct:

1. A Global Lens

Very few consultants have lived abroad and taught students from 80+ nations while traveling to nearly 50 countries. I keep referring back to this because one can watch a Youtube video or talk to someone from a country and get the highlights, and think, wrongly so, that they know the country or the people. However, having sat with thousands of students, taught them, counseled them, and loved them…Yes, loved them for over a decade, you get more insight than from watching a video. For the most part, I loved 90 to give or take, 95% of the students I have had the honor to meet because a lot of times, they were away from their home country for the first time and just kind of navigated to my office when things got tough for them. the other 5% is a different story for another day. So, by spending time in school and out of school with them, I learned a lot about them…and even traveling to a number of the nations to meet their parents. Given this as well as traveling for business, I understand how to navigate cultural dynamics and global leadership challenges in ways many U.S.-based consultants simply cannot and at times, don’t want to, for various reasons.

2. A Multidisciplinary Background

Wall Street, healthcare, real estate, academia, ministry, and international business—my expertise isn’t narrow; it’s expansive. That allows me to see solutions others might miss.

3. Academic and Professional Excellence

With a three MAs and a PhD, I bring both research-based knowledge and real-world wisdom. Clients get the best of both worlds.

4. Technology and AI Expertise

I started helping companies in the technology space back in the early 2000s…WOW, that’s 25 years ago. So I have seen the evolution of what companies need, technologically which has allowed me to help businesses leverage technology, AI, and digital tools to solve problems, automate processes, and gain actionable insights while still, I might add, honoring their people who help run the company. But again, that is another story for a different day. But when it comes to technology, I would say that I bridge the gap between complex tech and practical business applications, making innovation accessible and effective.

5. Cybersecurity and Compliance Insight

Most of the time within the technology sector, organizations rely on either a dedicated cybersecurity company or larger consulting firms that maintain teams specializing in cybersecurity and compliance. These groups focus on securing and protecting data while helping businesses meet regulatory requirements—which is valuable. However, many startups and smaller organizations simply do not have the budget or manpower to manage both cybersecurity protection and regulatory compliance at the level required.

This is where BH & Associates stands out.

We are unique in that I, along with other members of the BH & Associates team, bring years of hands-on experience helping businesses meet rigorous regulatory standards—such as HIPAA, PCI, FedRAMP, ISO 27001, and others—while also protecting their data and infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. We provide comprehensive services that include risk assessments, vulnerability management, security program implementation, and continuous monitoring to ensure both protection and compliance with state and federal laws.

In addition, we recognize that many organizations need not only expertise but guidance. With a trusted partner who understands both the regulatory landscape and the technical realities, businesses are better equipped to safeguard their data, ensure ongoing compliance, and effectively mitigate risk in an increasingly digital world.

Ultimately, our work ensures that technology adoption is not only innovative but also secure, resilient, and worthy of trust—setting BH & Associates apart in the cybersecurity and compliance insight space.

6. Faith and Integrity at the Core

Given that most of our clients are referrals, I don’t have to tell them upfront that I am a Born Again Christian who knows I will stand before Jesus Christ and give an account for how I treat people. That conviction shapes everything: how I communicate, how I handle sensitive information, how I make decisions, and how I navigate challenges on behalf of clients.

This standard of not only honor for our clients, but integrity applies to every client—whether they share my faith in Jesus Christ or not. Everyone is treated with the highest level of respect, honor, and professionalism. And believe it or not, most of my clients are not Christian. Most are people who have made it clear that they want someone who is honest, won’t sugar coat things, will tell the truth about what they need to do for their business, and are not just giving them, ‘good ideas that won’t work. There have been times were I have cancelled contracts, sent back thousands of dollars and even other currencies. Why? I refuse to work with people who not only do not treat their employees with respect, but if they are attempting to lie to their customers, or do things that are just wrong, and I discover it during the engagement, I walk away. Has this hurt my bottom line, YES ABSOLUTELY. But I had a mentor years ago who said, “People will either eat well or sleep well. Most can’t do both because of unethical decisions they make.” He told me he hoped that I would do both. My commitment is to deliver excellence without compromise, preserving trust at every step and carrying out my work with transparency, honesty, and a desire to honor God in all I do.

7. A Gift for Simplifying Complex Problems

People often come to me after others have been unable to help them. One of my signature strengths is the ability to break down complex issues and turn them into practical, actionable solutions. I tell clients openly that this is a gift God has given me. Sometimes they look a little unsure when I say that—but by the time we walk through the process together and they feel those “goosebumps” moments where clarity finally comes, they understand exactly what I mean.

In those moments, both they and I recognize that the solution is divine. I am simply being used to help them accomplish what they have been called to do—for their business, their employees, and their customers. My role is to help unlock what God has already placed within them and to guide them toward the outcomes they were always meant to reach.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the role I played in helping people succeed—students who didn’t believe in themselves, leaders who felt stuck, entrepreneurs who didn’t know where to begin, and organizations that needed direction and renewal. Watching people Soar Higher—in confidence, leadership, business, faith, and life—is the greatest reward.

I am also proud of having maintained integrity and excellence through every season of my career—from Wall Street to humanitarian work, academia, and global consulting. Each chapter has been distinct, yet every experience has prepared me to serve others at a higher, more meaningful way.

What do you want potential clients and followers to know about you and your brand?

I want people to know that when they work with me, they receive:

  • Truthful guidance rooted in honesty and integrity
  • A strategic mindset shaped by global experience
  • A compassionate and strong, straight to the point voice that understands people
  • A partner, not just a consultant who genuinely desires for them to win in all aspects of their lives.

BH & Associates Global is not just a business—it is ministry, leadership, strategy, and purpose woven together. My mission is simple:

To help individuals and organizations rise above limitations and operate at their highest potential.

When clients work with me, they receive more than consulting—they gain clarity, confidence, and the practical tools they need to build a lasting legacy for their families and for the families of those they employ.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been simple but uncommon: serving people with excellence, honesty, and deep respect for their humanity. I give clients my full attention, time, and commitment—and I tell them the truth, even when it’s not what they want to hear. That level of honesty helps them face the realities of their business, their leadership, and even their personal priorities.

Along with my relationship with Jesus, one thing that has shaped my approach more than anything else is what I learned early in my corporate career. During my first ten years, I was mentored by older men in their late 50s and 60s—men who had achieved significant financial success. They taught me something that stayed with me: many of them deeply regretted the ways they had damaged their marriages and relationships with their children by prioritizing money over memories. They were wealthy, but they weren’t always proud of the legacy they were leaving at home.

Because of that, I made a non-negotiable commitment: I do not work with clients who do not put their families first. I never want to contribute to a world where a father or mother is stuck in a boardroom while their child is blowing out candles at a birthday party.

So when clients come to me, they know exactly what they’re getting. I’m not just helping them build a brand or a business—I’m helping them build a life and a legacy they can be proud of as they progress in years. My clients trust me because they know my values are not for sale. They know I will always serve them as whole human beings doing human things, not just entrepreneurs chasing money.

And that level of integrity attracts the kind of clients who are ready to grow—not only in their companies, but in their character, their leadership, and the impact they want to leave on their families and the families who depend on their business.

Have you ever had to pivot?

One of the biggest pivots in my life came shortly after I became a Christian. I truly believed I was called to become a full-time missionary immediately. That was my expectation and the direction I thought my life would take. But God had a different plan—one that I could not have anticipated.

Instead of leaving business right away, I remained in the corporate world for another five years, still working in the asset-backed securities space while also running my company, Hammett Global Consulting. At that time, I had just signed three major clients: one was preparing to launch a charter school and needed operational support; another was a couple exploring starting a private jet company; and the third was an organization preparing to receive millions in grant funding to serve communities in need. Everything was aligning for significant growth, and from a business standpoint, it would have made perfect sense hire staff and grow in status and finances.

But in the middle of helping these clients plan their futures, God shifted mine. I received a call to move to South Korea, and despite how unexpected it was, I knew I had to follow. Within months, I pivoted completely—leaving my newly signed contracts, my business momentum, and what looked like the “logical path.”

That pivot became one of the greatest blessings of my life. I spent over a decade based in South Korea, and what unfolded there was something I could never have scripted. South Korea became a home base for me as I traveled throughout Asia, Africa, and former USSR nations, engaging in humanitarian work while also advising companies and government agencies on both business opportunities in their nations that would help their communities in need. At the same time, I stepped into academia, teaching students from around the world in South Korea and also online with universities in the United States.

So, I went from living in a 4000 sq ft home in an exclusive community, preparing to upgrade an already new car, to selling and giving away everything to fly to a country of which the language I did not speak, to live in an apartment that was smaller than my master bathroom.

What felt like a sudden detour became a divine redirection that expanded my worldview, deepened my purpose, and prepared me for the global impact I make today. That pivot taught me that the greatest opportunities aren’t the ones we plan—they’re the ones God orchestrates.
